Reel Comic Heroes 047 - Star Trek III: The Search for Spock with Scott Carelli

reelComicHeroes_047_StarTrekIIITheSearchForSpock

Welcome back Citizens, to another space-faring adventure! This episode we’re defying orders and logic to seek out an old friend. We’re talking all about Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. We couldn’t do it alone, so we enlisted the help of Scott Carelli from Dueling Genre. Scott is a podcasting powerhouse. He is the host of multiple ‘Movies by Minutes’ shows and also runs a network which provides many other podcasts a place to call home. We had a lot of fun and got to know the original crew of the Enterprise quite a bit more. And we’re happy to report that the “only even numbered Trek movies are good” is a garbage statement.

If you’re feeling nostalgic for your childhood, while at the same time, looking for something enjoyable as an adult; it’s hard to go wrong with Indiana Jones. Reel Comic Heroes 045 - The Toxic Avenger

reelComicHeroes_toxicAvenger

You know how the Batman 66 movie and television series was beloved for being silly, campy and lighthearted. Our next movie is kind of like that… but add a lot of gore, violence and a bit of nudity. This episode takes a look at 1984s The Toxic Avenger by the team at Troma Entertainment. We had a great time watching The Toxic Avenger and are actually looking forward to the next installment.

This episode is just a brief chat about the man who reminds us that Batman doesn’t always have to be dark and brooding. We will always remember Adam West as the fun-loving, yet serious ‘Bright Knight’ version of the Batman.

Reel Comic Heroes 044 - Superman III with Rory Spence

Patrick and Travis welcome back their old pal, Rory, from Hangover Reviews to discuss 1983s Superman III. This time Richard Pryor joins Christopher Reeve to give us a Superman movie like no other. This movie has a lot going on but we managed to find some things to enjoy about it.

As promised in the episode, here's a link to the abandoned Superman III treatment written by Ilya Salkind. It's worth a read and could have been a crazy, fun Superman movie.

Michael Myers, Snake Plissken, and Nada were all brought to the big screen by horror legend, John Carpenter. John Carpenter’s The Thing is still considered by many to be a sci-fi and horror masterpiece.

Reel Comic Heroes - Trailer Talk 008

What the hell happened? That is what we'd like to know in regards to our 'The Evil Dead' episode. Everything was going just fine... until we hit record. Basically, our mic failed. Normally when we record via Skype, we stop and listen to the first few minutes to make sure everything is recording normally. We forgot that step this time. What resulted is an un-listenable episode.

Rather than re-record the entire review, we decided to recap what happened as well as cover the newest trailers for Alien: Covenant, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, and the teaser for Deadpool 2.

As this is being typed, our mic is en route back to the manufacturer for replacement.

We would love to know what you think of The Evil Dead. Please send your thoughts to reelcomicheroes@gmail.com.
