Reel Comic Heroes 060 - Evil Dead II with Cullen Bricker and Brandon Peters

reelComicHeroes060_evilDeadII

The first time we tried to review Evil Dead, it was so evil, the episode was possessed by a demon and we had to destroy it. Listen to the story of the “Lost Pod” here. Just like Ashley Williams, we’ve returned to the cabin for Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn. But this time, we’ve brought help. Joining us against the forces of evil are Brandon Peters and Cullen Bricker from the Cult Cinema Cavalcade podcast.

Reel Comic Heroes 057 - Howard the Duck with Courtney Wheaton

It’s a classic tale of a duck being transported to another universe and experiencing human life in Cleveland. In this episode we’re revisiting Howard the Duck and trying to determine if nostalgia is really a good thing. Courtney returns to help us figure this one out. She previously joined us for Terminator which is also a movie about someone being transported from another time and place to Earth. We’d love to know what the Citizens think of Howard The Duck - so be sure to send in feedback we can share on a future episode.

A sarcastic humanoid duck is pulled from his homeworld to Earth where he must stop a hellish alien invasion with the help of a nerdy scientist and a cute struggling female rock singer who fancies him.

Joining us on Ripley’s trip back to LV-426 is Andy DiGenova from Holy BatCast. Let’s hope we make it through the night, which as we know, is mostly when they come out. Mostly.

Reel Comic Heroes 047 - Star Trek III: The Search for Spock with Scott Carelli

reelComicHeroes_047_StarTrekIIITheSearchForSpock

Welcome back Citizens, to another space-faring adventure! This episode we’re defying orders and logic to seek out an old friend. We’re talking all about Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. We couldn’t do it alone, so we enlisted the help of Scott Carelli from Dueling Genre. Scott is a podcasting powerhouse. He is the host of multiple ‘Movies by Minutes’ shows and also runs a network which provides many other podcasts a place to call home. We had a lot of fun and got to know the original crew of the Enterprise quite a bit more. And we’re happy to report that the “only even numbered Trek movies are good” is a garbage statement.

Reel Comic Heroes 045 - The Toxic Avenger

You know how the Batman 66 movie and television series was beloved for being silly, campy and lighthearted. Our next movie is kind of like that… but add a lot of gore, violence and a bit of nudity. This episode takes a look at 1984s The Toxic Avenger by the team at Troma Entertainment. We had a great time watching The Toxic Avenger and are actually looking forward to the next installment.

Patrick and Travis welcome back their old pal, Rory, from Hangover Reviews to discuss 1983s Superman III. This time Richard Pryor joins Christopher Reeve to give us a Superman movie like no other. This movie has a lot going on but we managed to find some things to enjoy about it.
